About Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are unique because with just one treatment, Dr. Lynch can address several aesthetic concerns. Veneers can hide discoloration, chips, cracks, worn-down teeth, and uneven spacing in your teeth.

We provide two types of veneers: traditional and no-prep LUMINEERS®.

Traditional Veneers

Traditional porcelain veneers are slightly thicker than no-prep options, so they require more preparation of your natural teeth before they can be applied. Traditional veneers require two visits to our office. During the first, Dr. Lynch will remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your natural teeth to create space for your veneers.

After your teeth have been prepped, Dr. Lynch will take impressions, which will be used in our dental laboratory to guide the creation of your veneers. He will supply you with temporary veneers to wear while your permanent veneers are being created.

Once your veneers have been fabricated, you will return to Dr. Lynch to have them placed. The process of application takes just minutes. Dr. Lynch will ensure that each veneer does not interfere with your bite, and that you are satisfied with your smile.

LUMINEERS®

LUMINEERS® were developed for patients who want the beauty and benefits of veneers, without having to alter the structure of their teeth. LUMINEERS® are a minimal-prep type of veneer that are very thin - about the thickness of a fingernail. Because they are so thin, they can fit easily over natural teeth with little or no preparation of the tooth, but still provide a natural appearance.

Like traditional veneers, LUMINEERS® require two visits with Dr. Lynch. During the first, he will make any necessary alterations to the teeth, take photographs of your teeth, and take impressions of your upper and lower bite. He uses these impressions to create molds of your teeth, which he will send along with the photographs to our LUMINEERS® laboratory. Your LUMINEERS® will be crafted over the next few weeks. You will typically not have to wear temporaries while your permanent LUMINEERS® are being created because your natural teeth will not have been significantly altered.

During your next appointment, Dr. Lynch will apply your LUMINEERS® to their respective teeth, bonding them in the same way as traditional veneers. He may lightly scratch the surface of your natural teeth to roughen the surface for a stronger bond. Once they are applied, your minimal-prep veneers are fully functional and you can continue with your day.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

Both traditional veneers and minimal-prep LUMINEERS® offer a wealth of benefits:

  • They last 10 to 20 years with proper care.
  • They address several types of imperfections with just a single treatment.
  • They are very durable and resistant to chipping and cracking.
  • They are stain-resistant.
  • They are created from high-quality porcelain that mimics the translucency of enamel for a natural look.
  • They do not require special at-home care. Patients can continue their regular routine of brushing, flossing, and rinsing.
